Relay for Life
Since 2008, members of Connolly, Tacon & Meserve
have
joined together at the
Relay for Life of Thurston County to celebrate cancer survivors, remember
those we've lost, and fight back against cancer. Since cancer never
sleeps, CTM takes to the track and Relays for 24 hours to raise funds for
the American Cancer Society. Since 2008, CTM has raised more than
$90,000. Please visit our
2010 thank you
video.
Lakefair
This annual five-day celebration takes place on the shores of Capital Lake,
right below our office. It makes it difficult for our clients, because
parking is limited during Lakefair!
Our attorneys and staff regularly
volunteer at the local community booths who sell food at Lakefair to support
their operations. This year, a group of attorneys and staff will work the
Lion Burger Den, sponsored by Olympia Host Lions Club. One weekday
afternoon, we will buy strawberry shortcake from the Olympia Early Learning
Center shortcake booth and provide the shortcakes to the Heritage Bank
tellers as well as our own employees.
Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center
Stacie-Dee M. Motoyama serves as a member of the board of directors of the
Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center, a local non-profit organization
dedicated to the promotion of mediation and alternative dispute resolution
for community members. Each year, the
DRC sponsors Toast to Chocolate, which
is the DRC's major fundraising event. CTM is a regular sponsor of Toast to
Chocolate, and our firm actively supports the worthwhile activities of the
Dispute Resolution Center.
Holiday Photos
Each year, our attorneys gather for a group photograph that becomes the
basis of our holiday cards. We try to select a local landmark as the site of
our holiday photo shoot. Our 2007 photo was taken at the Tumwater Heritage
Park with a view of the Old Olympia Brewhouse in the background. Click here
to see our holiday photos dating back to 2002. Click the images below to

Our first holiday
photo shows our attorneys at the Black Lake Tree Farm located
on Delphi Road. Marv and MaryLynne Reiner have been growing and
selling Christmas trees at this location since
1985. |

Our 2003 photo was taken at the “Souls of Extinction” salmon
sculpture on Percival Landing. It features our attorneys and
staff. Check out the Santa hat on the salmon’s nose! The
salmon is the work of David (Mollari) Sederberg and is one of
the Olympia Salmon Run Exhibit salmon sculptures originally
installed in 2002 at various locations in downtown Olympia. All
of the salmon are now located in the Olympia Center.

This photo
was taken at Park of the Seven Oars on Harrison Avenue in
Olympia. The park overlooks Budd Inlet and features the
sculpture of local artists Tom Anderson, Karen Lohmann, Mark
Osborne & Joe Tougas. Inspiration for this art comes from the
1890's photograph of seven women in a row holding the large
oars.

In 2005, the
attorneys took their new CTM umbrellas to Olympia’s popular
downtown water fountain. The fountain is just down the street
from our Heritage Bank Building office. We had a great time
avoiding the random shoots of water.

Olympia’s
Farmer’s Market is a popular site and just a few blocks from our
office. Our thanks to many local businesses that have stalls in
the market and provided the props for our photo.

In 2007 the
attorneys visited the old Olympia Brewhouse, constructed in 1906
and abandoned as a brewery since prohibition days. We stood on
the banks of the Deschutes River in the Tumwater Historical
Park.

In 1850, the founder of Olympia, Edmund
Sylvester, platted his townsite. One downtown block was
set aside for an open public square and was christened Sylvester
Park. Today's more streamlined bandstand, built in 1976,
was the site for CTM's 2008 holiday photo. Each summer,
the firm sponsors one of the free Music in the Park concerts
held at the bandstand. |

In 2009 the firm celebrated their second year of
participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life by
making it the focus for the annual Christmas card. |

Olympia Heritage Commission
Jim Connolly has been a member of the Olympia Heritage Commission since
2005. The Olympia Heritage Commission is responsible for the administration
of the historic preservation ordinance of the City of Olympia. Among other
tasks, this involves the designation of historic properties to the Olympia
Historic Register. CTM was the first business sponsor of the Olympia Historic
Homes Tour, and has consistently sponsored the tour since 2005. Several
members of our firm have volunteered to serve as docents at historical
homes, which are open to the public for viewing and tours on a Saturday in
December. The proceeds from the Historic Homes Tour fund the ongoing
preservation of the
Bigelow House.
